The Pyromancer, the fire that never dies out
He sets the board to his color from the very first turn, without spending a single mana, and ends fights with his Phoenix.
Second entry in our series on the heroes of Mythsworn: Spells & Poker: the Pyromancer.
Who he is
An armored war mage, he rains ruby fire on anything that dares to stand up. He is one of the two heroes playable from the very start of the adventure, alongside the Bellwarden.
How he plays
He is the attack hero. His color is Blaze (the red cards): three cards of his color in a line deal ×1.5 damage. His power gives his color to cards on the board, without changing their value: he sets up flushes and straight flushes, and his school cards burn the rest.
He has less health than the others (95 at the start): he wins by finishing fast.
His four forms
Each poker hand fills the Ascension gauge, and he rises in the middle of a fight. Each form hits harder, gains health and armor, and changes his power, and at each Ascension a creature joins him.

- Initiate, Flicker (0 mana): a board card of another color takes his color; it keeps its value.
- Champion, Fire Trail (2 mana): two board cards take his color. As he becomes a Champion, a Wall of Flames shields him.
- Legend, Conflagration (3 mana): the same two cards, then he heals 12 HP. As he becomes a Legend, the Phoenix joins him.
- Mythic (Transcendence): the ultimate form, unlocked at the end of the adventure. Discover it by playing.
How to play him well
- Cast Flicker before laying your pair: one more card of your color can make a flush.
- Keep mana for Conflagration: it colors two cards and heals you.
- His ideal familiar: Vharok, the fire lion, whose claws burn the monster.
